A puppy harness for a comfortable start
A puppy is still growing, learning and discovering how walks work. A soft adjustable puppy harness can give your pup a secure and comfortable setup while they get used to being outside on a leash. Our harness uses a Y shape that leaves the shoulder area open and soft padding for everyday comfort.
Four adjustment points while your puppy grows
Puppies can change shape quickly, so a harness that fitted well a few weeks ago may need another adjustment. The harness has four adjustment points to help you fine tune the fit around your puppy's changing body. Check the fit regularly instead of assuming one setting will stay right for months.
How should a puppy harness fit
A puppy harness should sit securely without pinching or rubbing. Make sure the straps stay away from the armpits, the harness does not twist when your puppy walks and the Y shape sits neatly on the chest. Because puppies grow quickly, measure again when the fit starts to change rather than simply loosening the straps indefinitely.
When can a puppy start wearing a harness
There is no single age that suits every puppy. You can introduce a lightweight harness indoors in short, calm sessions so your puppy learns that wearing it is normal. When outdoor walks should begin depends on your puppy's development, vaccination plan and veterinary advice.
Puppy harness or collar
A well fitted harness can be comfortable for first walks because the connection is spread across the body instead of sitting only around the neck. A collar can still be useful for an ID tag or short practical moments, and many dogs use both. The best choice depends on the situation and how your puppy walks.
Three leash attachment points for different stages
The harness has three leash attachment points, giving you options as your puppy gains experience. The chest attachment can provide an extra way to guide a puppy that moves strongly forward, but it is still important to practise calm walking and a loose leash from the start.
Measure your puppy instead of guessing by age or breed
Breed and age can give a rough idea, but measurements are more useful for choosing a size. Measure the neck and the widest part of the chest and compare them with the size guide. Repeat those measurements regularly while your puppy is growing.
Help your puppy get used to the harness
Keep the first sessions short and positive. Let your puppy sniff the harness, put it on calmly and reward relaxed behaviour. Start indoors before adding the excitement of the outside world. If your puppy freezes, scratches at the harness or seems uncomfortable, check the fit and build up the wearing time more gradually.
