Running with your dog with your hands free
A dedicated handsfree dog leash lets you move your arms more naturally while running with your dog. Wear it around your waist or crossbody and switch back to holding it in your hand when you want more direct control. Adjust the setup so both you and your dog have enough room to move without creating unnecessary slack.
Start slowly before building distance
Running together is something to build up gradually. Begin with short, easy sessions and pay attention to your dog's pace, movement and recovery. Puppies, senior dogs and dogs with health or mobility concerns may need different exercise limits, so ask your veterinarian if you are unsure whether running is suitable.
Use a well fitted dog harness
A stable harness should stay in place while your dog changes pace and direction. Our softly padded Y shaped dog harness has four adjustment points and three leash attachment points. The Y shape is designed to leave the shoulder area open when fitted correctly.
Handsfree does not mean less attention
Even when the leash is worn around your body, keep paying attention to traffic, other dogs, uneven ground and sudden changes of direction. Take the leash in your hand when the environment becomes busy or when you need more direct guidance.
Handsfree leash or waterproof leash
Our dedicated handsfree leash is the better match when wearing the leash around your body is the priority. Our waterproof adjustable leash is designed around easy cleaning after rain, mud and wet walks. Its hooks can be re-clipped to fixed points, but that is not the same construction or wearing experience as the dedicated handsfree leash.
Use the same setup for everyday walks
A handsfree leash is not only useful for running. Wear it crossbody or around your waist on regular walks when you want your hands available, then hold it normally whenever that feels more practical.
