The dog harness that does not retract.

A good harness distributes pressure over the chest, not over the trachea. We explain why that matters, and which model suits which dog.

01 · The basis

Why a harness and no collar?

A collar places the full pulling force on one spot: the trachea. For energetic dogs, and especially for brachycephalic breeds like Staffords, Boxers, and Bulldogs, this is no detail. It is a health risk.

A well-shaped dog harness distributes that same force across the chest and shoulders. The result: less coughing, better breathing, and a dog that can learn at its own pace not to pull without pain as a learning experience.

02 · The options

The three types harness and what they do.

Not every harness does the same thing. Some are made to counter pulling behavior, others for comfort on long walks, and yet others for dogs with specific shapes. Here is how to tell them apart.

01

And you

The Y-shape is loose from the shoulders, perfect for free movement. Our favorite for daily use.

02

Anti-trek (front-clip)

Chest confirmation physically adjusts pulling behavior. Good for training, less for hours of walking.

03

Step-in

Two little legs in, click tight. Fast, but less supportive for wide chests.

04 · The fit

Two fingers in between harness and dog.

Good fitting is about two things: it shouldn't slide under the armpits, and you should be able to fit two fingers in. If your dog turns to the side, the harness shouldn't tilt. If you can't fit two fingers anywhere, it's too tight. One finger is enough, three means your dog slips out as soon as he sees something move.

Always measure at the widest point of the chest, not the waist. And when in doubt, measure both sizes. Choosing the intermediate size is almost never right. Check our size guide for help.

Frequently asked questions.

At what age can my puppy wear a harness?

From 8 weeks you can start wearing it. Short, friendly, with treats. We recommend teaching pulling behavior with a harness from 4 months, when the growth plates are strong enough. Read more in our puppy harness guide.

Did your dog harness fit my Stafford?

Yes, we designed it with Pip as the model. Even with her compact body, everything fits perfectly. Size S fits most smaller Staffords, but measure just to be sure using our size guide.

Can a harness go in the washing machine?

Our dog harness can be hand washed with lukewarm water or rinsed under the tap. Air dry. The braided elastic will thank you for it.

How do I know if my dog is comfortable?

A well-fitting harness ensures a natural gait. Does your dog walk stiffly, with shoulders hunched, or is he trying to squirm backward? Then it is too tight or in the wrong place.
