01 · The market

How do you choose the best dog harness in 2026?

There are dozens of dog harness brands on the market. From cheap ones on Bol.com to premium brands at the pet shop. But which harness is really good? We compare the most popular options on what matters: fit, material, comfort and price.

A good dog harness distributes pressure evenly across the chest, allows the shoulders to move freely, and is adjustable enough to fit your dog. Sounds simple, but many harnesses fail on at least one of these points.

02 · The criteria

What do we rate dog harnesses on?

We rate each harness on five points that truly matter for daily use.

01

Fit & comfort

How well does the harness fit? Is it adjustable at multiple points? Does it chafe, even after longer walks? Is it suitable for different body types?

02

Material & durability

What material is used? How quickly does it wear? Can it handle rain and mud? Is the hardware sturdy or cheap plastic?

03

Value for money

What do you get for your money? An expensive harness is not automatically better, and a cheap one is not automatically worse. We look at the ratio.

03 · The verdict

Which harness is the best for your dog?

If you're looking for a harness that is adjustable at the most points, has a front clip for anti-pull training, and still looks good after months of use, then the Unboring dog harness is a strong choice. It combines the ergonomics of a Y-harness with premium materials and stylish design.

Julius-K9 is a solid choice if you want a no-nonsense harness, but lacks the front clip and extensive adjustability. Curli is comfortable but offers fewer fit options and is more expensive. Anny-X is solid but less stylish. Whatever harness you choose: choose a harness over a collar.

Frequently asked questions.

Is the Unboring harness better than Julius-K9?

They are different. The Unboring harness has a Y-shape (shoulders free), front + back clip, and is adjustable at 4 points. Julius-K9 is an H-harness with only a back clip and less adjustability. Both are sturdy.

What is the difference between a Y-harness and an H-harness?

A Y-harness runs in a Y-shape across the chest and allows the shoulders to move freely. Ideal for daily walks. An H-harness has straps that run over the shoulders, which can restrict movement.

Why is a front clip important?

A front clip helps with anti-pull training. When your dog pulls, it automatically turns towards you instead of pulling through. Not all harnesses have this, so check when purchasing.

How much should a good dog harness cost?

A quality harness usually costs between €30 and €65. Under €20, you save on material and hardware. Above €70, you often pay for the brand. The Unboring harness is priced at €44.95; premium material without premium markup.
