01 · The problem

Why your dog pulls and what an anti-pull harness does.

Pulling is not disobedience. It is instinct. Your dog smells something interesting, sees another dog, or simply wants to go faster than you. A collar makes it worse: the harder your dog pulls, the more pressure on the neck, and the more your dog panics and pulls even harder.

A dog harness with a front-clip shifts the point of attachment to the chest. Is your dog pulling? Then he is gently turned towards you instead of being catapulted forward. It is not a punishment. It is biomechanics that works.

02 · The operation

Front-clip vs. back-clip: when to use which one?

A front-clip has the attachment on the chest. When your dog pulls, the body automatically turns towards you. This breaks the pulling reflex without physical correction. It is the gold standard for training.

A back-clip is more comfortable for daily use when your dog is already walking reasonably well. Our Unboring dog harness has both options: a D-ring at the front and one at the back. You choose what you need for each walk.

01

Front-clip (training)

Attach the leash to the chest. When your dog pulls, he automatically turns towards you. Ideal for training pullers.

02

Back-clip (daily)

Attach to the back. Comfortable, no friction. Perfect if your dog has already learned not to pull.

03

Switch per situation

Busy city? Front-clip. Quiet forest? Back-clip. You simply switch the carabiner to the other ring.

03 · The combination

A harness is not a replacement for training.

Let's be honest: no product solves pulling behavior on its own. But a front-clip harness makes it physically harder for your dog to pull. And that gives you the opportunity to reward when he is walking next to you. Use a short, fixed dog leash of 150 cm for the best effect.

The best combination? A harness with front-clip and positive reinforcement. Stop. Wait until the leash is slack. Reward. Continue walking. Repeat. Within two weeks, you will notice a difference, and your dog will learn without stress. Check our size guide for the right size.

Frequently asked questions.

Does an anti-pull harness hurt my dog?

No. A front-clip harness directs the movement, it does not pinch and it does not punish. It shifts the pulling force from the neck to the chest, which is more comfortable, not more painful.

Does a no-pull harness really work or do I also need to train?

The harness makes it physically harder to pull, but it does not automatically solve the problem. Combine with positive reinforcement: reward as soon as the leash goes slack. That is the most effective method. Also, read our harness guide for more tips.

Can I use your harness as an anti-pull and as a regular harness?

Yes. It has both a front clip and a back clip D-ring. Use the front clip for training, and the back clip for daily walking once your dog has learned it.

My dog doesn't pull anymore, but I still use a front-clip. Is that bad?

Not at all. But if your dog walks calmly, the back-clip is more comfortable for longer walks. You just switch the carabiner to the other ring.
