01 · The Breed

Why aMalteseneeds a harness.

Maltese are small, elegant dogs with a fine bone structure. Their neck is vulnerable — even light pulling on a collar can cause problems with the trachea (tracheal collapse). This is a common problem in small breeds.

A dog harness moves all pressure to the chest. No force on the neck, no risk of trachea problems. For Maltese, a harness isn't a luxury — it's the standard recommendation from vets for small breeds.

02 · The Product

What to look for in a harness for aMaltese?

Maltese have a fine, silky coat and a small body. A harness needs to be lightweight but fit well, so they can't slip out. The Unboring harness in size XS is designed with small dogs in mind.

01

Ultra lightweight in XS

Size XS is light enough for a Maltese of 3-4 kg. Your dog barely feels the harness, but it sits sturdy enough not to shift.

02

Soft on the coat

The smooth Y-chest panel doesn't chafe in the fine Maltese coat. No matting, no irritation.

03

4 adjustment points for perfect fit

Small dogs vary enormously in body shape. The 4 adjustable points ensure the harness fits snugly on the narrow Maltese body — no sliding, no escaping.

03 · The Right Size

Which size harness fits aMaltese?

Most Maltese (3-4 kg) fit size XS (chest circumference 30-42 cm). Larger Maltese or Maltese mixes may be on the border of XS and S.

Measure the chest circumference at the widest point, just behind the front legs. For Maltese with a full coat: measure over the coat. Keep two fingers of space. Check our size guide for exact measurements. Available in Cocoa, Lilac, Moonlight Blue, and Moss.

Frequently asked questions.

What size harness does a Maltese need?

Most Maltese fit size XS (chest circumference 30-42 cm). Always measure at the widest point of the chest, over the coat. Keep two fingers of space.

Is a harness better than a collar for a Maltese?

Yes. Maltese and other small breeds are prone to tracheal collapse (narrowing of the trachea). A collar puts pressure on the neck and can worsen this. A harness moves all pressure to the chest.

Isn't the harness too heavy for my Maltese?

No. Our harness in size XS is designed to be lightweight. The coated hardware is compact but strong. Your Maltese barely feels the harness during walks.

Can my Maltese slip out of the harness?

If properly adjusted, no. Adjust the harness snugly on the 4 adjustment points, with two fingers of space. The Y-design closes around the chest, which is much harder to escape from than a collar.
