01 · The Breed

Why aCavalier King Charles Spanielneeds a harness.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are sweet, affectionate dogs. They're small and relatively calm, but that doesn't mean a collar is the best choice. Cavaliers are prone to heart problems and airway conditions. Pressure on the neck via a collar can worsen those problems.

A dog harness moves all pressure to the chest, away from the neck and airways. Vets almost always recommend a harness for flat-nosed breeds and breeds with heart problems. It's a small adjustment that makes a big difference for your Cavalier's health.

02 · The Product

What to look for in a harness for aCavalier?

Cavaliers have a compact body with a relatively wide chest for their size. Their long, silky coat can chafe under narrow straps. The Unboring harness has a wide Y-shaped chest panel that sits comfortably under the coat.

01

No pressure on the airways

The harness sits on the chest, not on the neck. Crucial for Cavaliers that are prone to airway and heart problems.

02

Soft on the coat

The wide, smooth chest panel doesn't chafe in the silky Cavalier coat. No matting, no irritation.

03

Lightweight

In size XS or S the harness is lightweight. Cavaliers aren't pullers — the harness doesn't need to be heavy, but it does need to fit well.

03 · The Right Size

Which size harness fits aCavalier King Charles?

Most Cavaliers (5-8 kg) fit size XS (chest circumference 30-42 cm) or size S (40-56 cm). Larger Cavaliers may fit size S. Always measure over the coat.

Measure the chest circumference at the widest point, just behind the front legs. Cavaliers have a full coat — measure over it and keep two fingers of space. Check our size guide for exact measurements. Available in Cocoa, Lilac, Moonlight Blue, and Moss.

Frequently asked questions.

What size harness does a Cavalier King Charles need?

Most Cavaliers fit size XS (chest circumference 30-42 cm) or size S (40-56 cm). Always measure over the coat at the widest point of the chest.

Is a harness better than a collar for a Cavalier?

Yes. Cavaliers are prone to heart problems (MVD) and airway issues. A collar puts pressure on the neck and can worsen those problems. A harness moves all pressure to the chest. Vets recommend this.

My Cavalier doesn't pull. Does he still need a harness?

Yes. It's not just about pulling. Even with a calm dog, a collar can put pressure on the neck during sudden movements. For Cavaliers with their sensitivity to heart and airway problems, a harness is always the safer choice.

Does the harness chafe in the long Cavalier coat?

Not with our wide Y-design. The smooth material doesn't cause matting. Tip: brush the coat under the harness after each walk to prevent matting.
